The Riu Guanacaste Hotel is located in Playa Matapalo, a long sandy beach located in the canton of Carrillo, Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
Its soft waves and gentle conditions mean that we can pick up guests directly from the beach, which enhances the experience.
The route of our private tours normally runs along the coastline departing from the Riu. Some beaches that can be visited include Playa Guacamayita, or Playa Huevos or Playa Nacazolito.
The private tour includes snorkeling, where you can explore the beauty of Costa Rica’s Pacific Ocean. Guanacaste also has a large number of remote and pristine beaches, away from the hotel development of the better known areas.

We have three basic tours available, all 100% PRIVATE, although we also offer customized tours.
Half day tour
The 4 hour tour departs at 8 am and returns at 12 pm, or can also be done in the afternoon from 2 to 6 pm. Includes open bar, lunch, snorkeling and paddle boards.
Full day tour
Full day tour departs at 10 AM and returns at 6 PM. Includes open bar, lunch, snorkeling and paddle boards.
Multi day tour
We have multi-day tours, sleeping on board, with meals included, open bar, snorkeling and paddle boarding.
Riu Guanacaste
The Riu Guanacaste hotel is located a short distance from the beach in Playa Matapalo, south of Playas del Coco. It is one of the largest all-inclusive hotels in Costa Rica, with extensive services and amenities for those who enjoy all-inclusive hotels.
In the case of RIU GUANACASTE, we can pick up guests directly on the beach in front of the hotel. The beach normally has a gentle swell, and in case of strong waves, we transfer the clients to Playas del Coco where we do the boarding.
