Guanacaste is a nature lover’s paradise, with its diverse array of tropical dry forests, secluded coves, bays and white sand beaches. With its crystal-clear waters and abundance of marine wildlife, it is the perfect destination for snorkeling and paddle boarding. Even on land, the flora and fauna are unlike any other place in Costa Rica.
The Northern Pacific coast of Guanacaste is home to vast swathes of tropical dry forests with trees that twist upwards as if reaching for the sky. Here you can find an incredible variety of unique plants, like guanacaste trees with their distinctive pods, as well as huge cacti. These forests are also home to howler monkeys, parrots, iguanas and more – making Guanacaste a great spot for birdwatchers and wildlife enthusiasts alike.
In contrast to the lush forests on land are the many sheltered bays dotted along this coastline. The water here is pristinely clear and full of life; beneath the surface you’ll see schools of colorful tropical fish; moray eels poking out from between rocks; sea turtles bobbing lazily at the surface; rays flapping gracefully over coral gardens; and sharks patrolling deep down below. For this reason alone, snorkeling is one activity that must not be missed during a visit to Guanacaste! Paddle boarding also gives visitors a chance to get up close and personal with these fascinating creatures in their natural habitat – an experience not soon forgotten.
But there’s more to the province than wildlife – it’s also renowned for its stunning beaches! Whether you’re after solitude or company, Guanacaste has it all: secluded coves lined with coconut palms; long stretches of white sand flanked by turquoise waters; horseshoe bays leading into rainforest-covered hillsides… This coastline offers something for everyone who loves to spend time in nature – from sunbathers who just want to relax on the beach, to hikers looking for an adventurous trail through dense jungle.
Overall, it’s easy to see why so many people flock each year to discover what Guanacaste has in store – whether they’re keen adventurers looking towards exploring its untouched beauty or those simply wanting restorative time spent in nature’s embrace!
